Bill became interested in exploring new types of art for space during email communications with Dr. Leroy Chiao, while Leroy was commanding the
six month Expedition 10 mission - 218 miles up - on the International
Space Station in 2005. The goal is not just to develop art about space, but to design art for space. Just to warm up, Bill painted Leroy's portrait while he was still "up there"!
